5 NPCs That Make Breath Of The Wild Great

Powered by Geek & Sundry

From an annoying, effervescent fairy to a creepy mask salesman, The Legend of Zelda franchise is full of unique non-playable characters. It’s no surprise that Breath of the Wild, the latest in the series, is overflowing with vibrant personalities as well. As breathtaking as the vast landscape is, it’s those NPC’s that give it life. For me, these characters really make the game. So, in honor of the creeps, kooks, and critters that make us laugh, here are the five best NPC’s from Breath of the Wild (spoilers ahead).

5) HESTU

Hestu is the happiest tree-person in all of Hyrule. Give him a couple of Korok seeds, and you’ll get an adorable dance in return. He’ll shake his maracas, wiggle his backside, and shriek excitedly while expanding your inventory space. I’m not sure about you, but I deeply appreciate Hestu’s positive attitude and enthusiasm. In a decrepit world where Calamity Ganon reigns, Hestu’s inner light never wanes (check out that rhyme). If Hestu can still find a reason to dance, so can you.

4) KILTON

Ah, the ever-elusive Kilton is the merchant who peddles in monster parts. He’s hard to find, for sure, but trust me when I say it’s worth it. Not only does he sell the Dark Link Armor from Ocarina of Time, he also sells special masks that fool monsters. Though his monster-themed inventory is cool, I really admire his risk taking ways. I imagine selling monster parts is a bit of a taboo thing because they’re, well, monsters. But that doesn’t stop Kilton from seeing his plans through. He designed his own currency system too. If that’s not innovative, I don’t know what is.

 3) PIKANGO

Pikango might not be the best painter in the world, but that doesn’t stop him from doing what he loves. You can find him working on his landscape paintings at every stable in Hyrule. I really love it whenever the creative spirit takes hold of him. He’ll wield three or four paintbrushes in each hand, then as if possessed, he begins painting. His zesty personality is an absolute delight.

2) PAYA

Paya is Impa’s granddaughter and, boy, is she adorable. Her bashful nature makes her really endearing and relatable. I feel compelled to protect her. If you read her diary, you’ll notice that almost every entry is about Link.  I think it’s safe to say she harbors an enormous crush on him. If you’re looking for a laugh, undress Link and interact with her. She’ll get really embarrassed and cover her face with her hands.

1) BEEDLE

Remember Beedle, the quirky merchant from Windwaker? Well, he’s back and better than ever! You can find him at every stable carrying his entire shop on his back. You might even bump into him on the road from time to time. He’s a man who really values his customers. I mean, really. His vigor is unparalleled. Whether I’m buying or selling, he’ll hoot and holler with tremendous gusto. That’s dedication right there.
